Behind Martinique Travel Consulting, there is a person, not a faceless company.
My name is Karen Couturier and as a true Martinique full time resident, I am here to help you organize your trip by giving you a number of recommendations and tips in where to go and what to do in Martinique.
To give you a little bit of background information, I came in Martinique for the very first time in 2011 on vacation. I immediatly fell in love with everything that make Martinique so special and decided to leave behind the hustle and bustle of Paris and to settle there with my husband and our little daughter, Chloé. For 5 years now, I have been working in Fort-de-France as a journalist for the local television channel ATV. A really great job that enabled me to discover the island in every corner and to meet fabulous people. For now, I still work as a freelance journalist as much as time permits.
But above all, I am a traveler at heart, eager to share my experiences and now, my knowledge and network. Lucky me, I have been travelling a lot those past years : USA, Canada, Cambodia, Vietnam, Europe, not to mentioned Caribbean Islands (Barbados, Curaçao, St Maarten, Cuba, St Lucia…) and I know how precious time and good advice are when travelling.
Since I moved to Martinique, I have helped many friends and family members choose what to do and where to go when visiting Martinique.
I will treat every travelers like I expect and like to be treated when I do travel abroad myself. My business idea is pretty simple: I want to make your Martinique vacation a perfect one. I want you to see and experience the very best of our island... And I want you and your friends to come back for more and more discovery, year after year, as Martinique has so much to offer.
My commitments to you :
-> Listening : I will listen to what you want out of your vacation exactly in order to provide you with the best experience ever
-> Transparency : No agreements with any of the providers I recommend, I do not receive any commissions from any of them. You book and pay directly.
Martinique, the place to go.
Martinique is definitely a wonderful destination. If it is your first time there, you will probably be surprised by the landscape diversity : White sandy beaches, rainforests, mountains, mangrove,.. not to mention the wonderful flowers you’ll see everywhere. If Martinique is called Madinina, meaning «island of flowers», that’s for a reason.
Even if the best time to visit Martinique is between november to April (dry season), average temperature is between 75° to 85° Fahrenheit (23 degrees to 29 degrees Celsius), all year long. So, no matter when and where you decide to go in Martinique, you won’t need your coats here ! A little sweater should be enough.
Depends on what you like and how you consider to spend your time in vacation, you will be able to choose among many activities : eating a lobster on the beach and enjoying caribbean food, laying on a white sandy beach like the one you see on postcards, visiting distilleries and learn all about the manufacturing of agricultural rum, climbing La Montagne Pelée, one of those hike which is well worth the effort once you get up there (the view is simply stunning), scuba diving or trying stand up paddle if you do like sport, learning about the culture and traditions of an island full of history,... You will definitely find something for your taste !
